Alta Housing Awarded $750,000 Grant from Silicon Valley Community Foundation for Wellness Navigation Pilot Program

PALO ALTO, Calif. - Alta Housing is proud to announce the receipt of a $750,000 grant from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation (SVCF) to launch a groundbreaking Wellness Navigation Pilot Program, a two-year initiative designed to provide comprehensive wellness services to low-income residents in Palo Alto. The SVCF Board approved the grant, recognizing the importance of addressing residents' health and wellness needs.

Alta Housing's vision is to create a safe and supportive environment where residents can access individualized wellness services, low- or no-cost community-based resources and navigate public benefits. The program will empower residents to take control of their well-being, ensuring access to mental, physical, and financial health resources. This initiative addresses several key challenges faced by the community, including rising mental health issues exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, limited access to holistic wellness services for low-income residents, and the complex public benefits systems that create barriers to accessing support. These factors underscore the importance of integrated services that address resident needs.

The Wellness Navigation Pilot Program aims to support Alta residents by increasing access to health services and public or community-based benefits, helping them navigate complex systems to obtain essential resources. It will enhance mental health services by offering individual and group therapy sessions, while also promoting holistic wellness through mindfulness, nutrition, and fitness programs.

"This grant was made possible by the generosity of donors whose legacy gift reflects a commitment to supporting programs that improve the lives of individuals and families in Palo Alto. We are honored to fulfill their vision by supporting Alta Housing's pilot program. By providing tools for stability and opportunities to thrive, this program has the potential to create lasting impact for those most in need, and we are excited to see its positive outcomes in the years to come," says Nicole Taylor, President and CEO of Silicon Valley Community Foundation.

"This grant marks a major milestone for Alta Housing and our efforts to support the holistic well-being of our residents," said Randy Tsuda, CEO of Alta Housing. "We're incredibly thankful to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation for their support and confidence in our team." The program is expected to launch in early 2025.
