Wu-Tang Clan-affiliated emcee, Alaskans make music on “Alaska Borealis.”
Alaska, US, 1st August 2024, Alaska artists teamed up with an East Coast rap legend to make an album that’s all Killah, no filler.
Killah Priest, the rapper known for his work on Wu-Tang Clan-related classics like “Liquid Swords,” his time with hip-hop super group HRSMN and a voluminous solo catalog, recently contributed verses to an album otherwise shaped by the talents of artists from the Last Frontier.
“Alaska Borealis,” due out on digital platforms on July 27, boasts eight tracks with a state-spanning roster of Alaska-based talent on the mic and behind the boards, and each song features Killah Priest. Artists contributing songs to the album include Juneau’s Air Jazz, Radiophonic, Diamond Dollar Entertainment Kingdom, Lance Mitchell and Zansler; Sitka’s Phonetic; and Fairbanks’ Alaska Redd. The album was engineered by Jbo of Juneau’s Second2None Sound studio.
The album, which boasts sonic variety to match the far-flung stomping grounds of its artists, will be welcomed to the world by a concert in Alaska’s capital city. Killah Priest, Air Jazz, Radiophonic and Zansler are set to take the stage at 8 p.m., July 27, at the Crystal Saloon in downtown Juneau.
For those who won’t be able to see the show — or those who attended and loved it —“Alaska Borealis” will be available to hear on Apple Music, Amazon Music the same day as the concert.
