Dana Cornell and Kyle Kirk join advisor-owned wealth management partnership built to create enterprise value through shared ownership, infrastructure and expertise

Uniting Wealth Partners (UWP) today announced the addition of two accomplished advisors to its growing national partnership: Dana Cornell, who managed approximately $1 billion in client assets during his 13-years at Morgan Stanley, and Kyle Kirk, an Ameriprise advisor in northern Pennsylvania who was managing an approximately $100 million book of business.

These additions reflect UWP’s broader strategy of bringing together successful advisors from across the wealth management industry—whether from RIAs, banks, independent broker-dealers or wirehouses.

Cornell joins UWP to build the next generation of his practice on an independent RIA platform. He serves ultra-high-net-worth clients whose needs increasingly extend beyond traditional investment management, and UWP’s ability to deliver additional services through a broader wealth platform attracted him.

“My clients’ needs go beyond managing an investment portfolio,” Cornell said. “UWP gives us access to M&A advisory, property and casualty insurance, trust services and lending, along with the infrastructure of a much larger organization, while allowing us to remain independent owners of our business,” he said. “That combination is what attracted me to UWP, and with Kyle joining, we have the team and resources to build something significant.”

“There’s no standard UWP deal because there is no standard advisor,” UWP co-founder Jay Hummel said. “We start with what the advisor is trying to accomplish and build the partnership around those objectives. Dana’s needs are different from other UWP advisors, and his structure should reflect that. What all our partner advisors share is majority ownership of their own businesses along with ownership in the larger enterprise we’re building together.”

Kirk is making a simultaneous break from Ameriprise and is joining the UWP team in the Olean, New York office. He adds immediate capacity to support the team’s growth.

“This is much bigger than adding another advisory team,” UWP Managing Partner John Phoenix said. “Dana built and managed a great book at Morgan Stanley and is now choosing UWP as the platform from which to build his next one. At the same time, Kyle is leaving Ameriprise to join him. That combination demonstrates what we are building: an advisor-owned firm with the capabilities of the largest wealth-management organizations, but without the traditional middleman.”
