Victoria AUS Reclaimed & Recycled Timber: Sustainable Floors & Furniture Updated

Reconstructed - a recycled wood supplier based in South Geelong, Victoria, Australia (+61-1300-198-588) - has announced updates to its sustainable timber solutions for customers in the region.

-- With its latest updates, Reconstructed will offer more clients access to its exclusively recycled, Australian-sourced hardwood timber. The company takes care of every part of the recycling process, from wood sourcing to milling, crafting, delivery, and installations if required.

The quality of Reconstructed's large inventory is the result of over a decade of perfecting their recycling processes. If customers cannot find the products they need on the website, the company can fulfill specific requests and customise timber to match unique dimensions, finishes, or design specifications for every project

The reclaiming process is taken care of by the company's sister business, The Salvage Centre, a sustainable demolition operation that rescues timber that would otherwise go to waste and end up in landfill. While many demolition companies throw away old timber because it is cheaper to do so, Reconstructed and The Salvage Centre believe that simpler and cheaper do not equal better.

A spokesperson explains, “At Reconstructed, we believe that old timber is better than new. Timber from the past is stronger, harder and more stable than it is today. Old timber is grown with tighter rings, compared to the fast-growing plantations of today. This means it is much denser and less prone to splitting, warping and rotting. Recycled timber is loaded with character and every piece has its own unique story to tell.”

Once the reclaimed timber arrives at Reconstructed's Geelong warehouse, it is inspected and checked for defects. The team can identify mould, fungi, and insect infestations that might render the wood unusable. Timber which passes these checks is then sent to Malaysia for milling and crafting.

The spokesperson adds, “Some items require more processing than others. For example, many of the floorboards we salvage are still in great condition and just require sanding and polish. Other times we recycle a piece of timber into a totally new product.”

The final product range includes furniture such as dining tables, flooring including rough-sawn timber, recycled Tasmanian Oak, and engineered recycled boards as well as doors, panels, cladding, and other custom items. All furniture is assembled and checked to ensure its strength, durability, and suitability for sale.
