JABA Condemns Acts of Violence in Los Angeles and Washington DC

May 25, 2025 – Los Angeles, CA: The Jews & Blacks Association (JABA) is issuing a statement in response to two recent incidents of violence in Los Angeles and Washington, DC. On May 24, a triple shooting occurred on Manchester Boulevard in Los Angeles, resulting in two fatalities and one injury. The incident is currently under investigation by local authorities.

Separately, in Washington, DC, two staff members of the Israeli Embassy — Aaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim — were fatally shot near the Capital Jewish Museum. According to multiple reports, preliminary statements from law enforcement suggest the motive may be linked to hate-based targeting. Federal authorities are investigating.

JABA, a national coalition founded to support collaboration between Black and Jewish communities, expresses deep concern over these events and their broader implications.

“These recent acts of violence have impacted multiple communities and highlight the need for continued attention to public safety and hate crime prevention,” said a JABA spokesperson. “We encourage law enforcement agencies at the federal and local levels to continue prioritizing investigations into hate-motivated crimes and to allocate resources accordingly.”

JABA is calling for the formation of a dedicated federal task force to monitor and respond specifically to hate crimes targeting Jewish communities. Such a task force would support prevention strategies, data collection, and enhanced coordination between agencies.

The organization also encourages broader engagement from community leaders, faith-based institutions, and educators in fostering mutual understanding and cooperation. JABA remains committed to interfaith dialogue, educational outreach, and community-building initiatives.

“Our core mission is to strengthen the connection between communities through shared efforts focused on education, respect, and collaboration,” the spokesperson added. “Violence and division must be addressed with thoughtful, collective action.”
