Community invited to tour new Intermountain Alta View Hospital Women’s Center Saturday, January 22 from 11am to 1pm

Bringing a child into this world is special and uniquely personal.
That’s why Intermountain Alta View Hospital in Sandy, Utah has redesigned its Women’s Center and is opening a new state-of-the-art labor and delivery unit to enhance the birth experience to ensure an optimal experience for women and to ensure the health of both mom and baby.
The hospital, which has served patients in southeast Salt Lake County for more than 40 years, delivers over 1,000 babies each year.
The new Women’s Center at Intermountain Alta View Hospital features a brand-new labor and delivery unit in the hospital’s patient tower with sweeping views overlooking the Salt Lake Valley and the Wasatch mountain range, extra spacious birthing rooms with state-of-the art technology and queen size beds that are popular so that partners can sleep in the same bed during their hospital stay, if desired.
The labor and delivery suites also feature specially designed labor tubs for patients to use during labor.
“Our goal is to provide personalized care for you and your baby and to support your birth experience with a variety of birthing options that are tailored to you with experienced and high-trained caregivers to support you every step of the way,” said Janet Hintze, RN, chief nursing officer of Intermountain Alta View Hospital.
Intermountain Alta View Hospital is holding a free Community Open House for its new Women’s Center on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 11 am to 1 pm, and is inviting the community to tour the new space and see how the space has been designed to enhance the delivery experience.
Along with tours of the new Women’s Center, there will be a teddy bear clinic for kids, refreshments, and an opportunity to meet the hospital’s team of OB-GYNs. The hospital is located at 9660 South 1300 East in Sandy.
Other features of the new labor and delivery unit at Intermountain Alta View Hospital include:
- LDRP birthing model (labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum – all in one room).
- Simply Birth program – a low intervention, unmedicated birth where patients can enjoy a home-birth like freedom and the comfort with accessible medical support. This program is not offered at all hospitals.
- Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for pain management.
- A well-baby nursery with telehealth services for coordinated access to neo-natal care for any baby or mother who needs it.
- Intermountain telehealth provides instant access to neo-natal care and specialists if needed through telehealth medicine.
- Experienced OB/GYNs and certified nurse midwives
- Consultation, preparation, and coaching for high-risk births, resuscitations, and other time sensitive procedures.
