Trailblazer and Avant-Gard Toly A.K. Invites Reader to His State of Mind in His Publisher Work, “The Book”

By: WebWire

The avant-garde artist Apostoly Peter Kouroumalis, also known by his pen name Toly A.K., paves the way for outlandish individuals. Whether music, video, or photography, Toly A.K. can cast a dim light on the ridiculous side of daily existence. “The Book” features samples of the type of extreme lowbrow art you may anticipate from this creator.

Toly A.K. has had some success with a film called “Ascension” that he screened in the Cannes short film category, and his film work is currently being toured around Canada for two years in a program called “Under New Management.” His experimental films are available at the Cinematheque Quebecois, and the Bibliothèque Nationale carries some of his publications.

“The Book” is a compendium to the artwork of Toly A.K. in a brief overview discussing themes, ideas, and ideologies of paint, music, and film work. Toly A.K. lost his best friend in a rape-slay incident, and he has lived in constant turmoil since then. His art has become an expression for him.

In this book, Toly A.K. has compiled some of his works. His heart-racing arts require an open mind and sometimes a need to ponder. They are not masterpieces intended for people who only see things at face value. Toly A.K. invites everyone to the state of mind of an Avant-Garde.

“While always painful, twisted, and at times crude, A.K. is a punk with a paintbrush. Whether with his Angerian images, dystopian diction, or malicious melodies, he continues to show us that the war is just not outside our globalized windows, but a reflection of the wildfire burning within each of us.” --Kraig X. Wenman
