CLiC® On-Demand Privacy Glass Expands Engagement With Architects Through New AIA Partnership

Eden Prairie, MN, Sept. 15, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CLiC® On-Demand Privacy Glass is expanding its engagement with the architectural community through a new relationship with the American Institute of Architects (AIA), beginning with support for two upcoming AIA events and continuing with educational initiatives into 2027.

CLiC, engineered and manufactured by Cardinal IG Company, a Cardinal Glass Industries company, will support the AIA Custom Residential Architects Network (CRAN®) Symposium September 23–26, 2026, followed by AIA’s VIBE (Vital Interactions for the Built Environment) conference October 7–9, 2026.

The relationship introduces CLiC more directly to architects who are increasingly balancing two important residential design priorities: preserving natural light and open views while also giving homeowners privacy where and when they need it.

CLiC On-Demand Privacy Glass lets architects incorporate privacy directly into the glass, rather than relying exclusively on traditional solutions such as blinds, shades, or other added treatments. With the ability to switch from clear to private in milliseconds, CLiC gives homeowners on-demand privacy while allowing architects and designers to maintain a space's visual intent.

The technology is designed for residential windows, doors, and partitions and combines privacy functionality with the performance characteristics expected from Cardinal insulating glass. CLiC is available through leading door, window and partition manufacturers across North America.

“For architects, privacy is not simply a functional issue. It is also a design consideration,” said Tim Kaiser, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Cardinal Glass Industries. “CLiC gives architects another way to think about privacy without having to compromise the openness, natural light, and clean design homeowners increasingly want.”

The AIA relationship also gives CLiC an opportunity to introduce its technology to architects earlier in the design and specification process.

For decades, Cardinal Glass Industries has supplied glass used in residential windows and doors throughout North America. Homeowners may recognize the window or door brand installed in their home, while Cardinal is often the glass behind it, trusted by manufacturers for quality, durability, and consistent performance.

That same manufacturing foundation is behind CLiC.

“Cardinal has traditionally worked behind the scenes with window and door manufacturers, and CLiC creates an opportunity for us to engage more directly with the architectural community,” Kaiser said. “This partnership is a first for Cardinal, and CLiC is an ideal product to showcase because it addresses a practical homeowner need while giving architects greater flexibility in how they approach privacy.”

The upcoming CRAN Symposium brings together architects focused on custom residential design for education, collaboration, and exploration of new ideas affecting the built environment. CLiC’s participation creates an opportunity to show how switchable privacy glass can be considered part of the architectural design itself rather than an accessory added after the fact.

Following CRAN, CLiC will also participate in AIA’s VIBE conference October 7–9, 2026. The broader relationship is expected to continue through the 2027 calendar year and include educational courses covering CLiC and other products within the Cardinal portfolio.

For CLiC, the initiative is part of a broader effort to build awareness among architects, designers, and other professionals involved in residential design while showing how privacy glass can support both functional requirements and architectural intent.
